The Mermaid and the Crown

Commodore 64CassetteDisk

On a sandy beach in a faraway land stands the golden statue of a mermaid, looking very sad. Legend tells of a pirate ship which came to these shores and stole away the mermaid's crown, plunging the magical land into darkness. But they didn't get far. Enraged, King Neptune avenged the mermaid by calling up a fierce storm and sinking the pirate ship in the deep waters of the bay. Your quest is to find the crown and return it to the mermaid, breaking the spell and bringing light to the land once more. But the task will not be easy, for in this magical land many strange dangers lie in store . . .

The disk image is under “From the archive” below. It runs in VICE, which is free for Windows, macOS and Linux, or on a THEC64. Two-word commands: GET RING, GO NORTH, MOVE ROCK, DROP KEY, HELP. This one is a .g64, a track-level image of the original protected disk — VICE opens it as it is, but tools that take only .d64 will not.
